These are the pillars that will define NME - Next Mobility Exhibition 2024: 3 days dedicated to the key players in the passenger transport sector with a packed programme of talks and conferences covering the energy transition, digitization and innovation.
The event will open on Wednesday 8 May with the presentation of the study on Local Public Transport carried out by the Politecnico di Milano, by Professor Pierluigi Coppola of the Department of Mechanics at the Milanese university. Local public transport in Italy is a major driver of growth, with an annual turnover of around €12 billion and more than 124,000 employees. However, despite its potential, the majority of Italians (around 85%) still prefer to use private vehicles, contributing to urban congestion and the social costs of road accidents and pollution. The aim of the study was to analyse the economic and social benefits of an integrated, sustainable and comprehensive LPT system and to outline the investment required to improve and revitalise it.
Thursday 9 May will be dedicated to sessions on sustainable and innovative urban mobility, with round tables and presentations of studies on national bus strategies, innovations in sustainable public transport, and the energy transition in the transport sector. Digitisation in public road transport and the European social implications of the sector will also be discussed. The study "Towards a national strategy for bus transport and tourism", carried out by the Politecnico di Milano, which aims to analyse the market for public bus services and their role in the context of the tourism industry, will also be presented.
The final day, Friday 10 May, will cover topics such as the electrification of cities, new technologies in the mobility sector and big data management.
