AGENS, i Big Data per innovare il trasporto
image
Agens will organise a conference for Next Mobility Exhibition entitled: “Big Data, from Theory to Practice”, an absolute first in Italy to discuss a key development-related topic.

Digital technologies and data analysis are revolutionising mobility, enabling more precise planning of transport services. Big data is making it possible to design transport offerings that better meet the needs of users, reducing congestion and improving overall efficiency. In addition, a deeper understanding of the behaviour of operators and end consumers enables better resource management and a reduction in supply chain costs. Responsible data management therefore becomes crucial if we are to protect privacy and fairly distribute the benefits of data analysis.

Only if governments, businesses and civil society collaborate will it be possible to fully harness the transformative potential of big data in future mobility, thereby improving the overall accessibility, safety and efficiency of transport. Gaetano Valenti, a researcher at Enea, will lead the conference. He will introduce the concept of Floating Car Data and illustrate a method for offering a dynamic and detailed view of road traffic, enabling better traffic management and more efficient infrastructure planning. Other speakers will include Mario Tartaglia from the Ferrovie dello Stato Group Research Centre, who will show how mobile network data can be used to optimise rail transport planning.

Also at NME will be a representative of the Italian Transport Regulatory Authority (ART), who will illustrate the concept of a National Transport Database and how it can be used to conduct analyses across various forms of transport and develop evidence-based regulatory measures. Mercitalia will close the conference by presenting the Intelligent Supply Chain concept and showing how the use of Big Data and artificial intelligence algorithms can optimise business logistics. This innovative approach promises to reduce costs, improve journey times and increase overall transport efficiency.
