In the context of Europe's sustainability goals, which require Italy to shift 10% of private mobility to public transport by 2030, Fiera Milano hosted the second edition of NME, the Next Mobility Exhibition. This event brought together the industry's leading brands, software solutions, infrastructure and key stakeholders to discuss technologies, vehicles and policies for integrated, innovative and sustainable mobility. Enthusiastically received by companies and operators, NME 2024 provided an important opportunity to explore the latest innovations and share ideas and success stories. Vehicles and solutions on display, as well as numerous training sessions, gave operators the opportunity to discover technologies and strategies to improve the efficiency and sustainability of collective transport.
Coinciding with Transpotec Logitec, Italy's leading freight transport event, it highlighted common challenges such as the energy transition, digitalisation and staff shortages. Thanks to 539 participating companies and a comprehensive programme of conferences, Transpotec Logitec and NME transformed Fiera Milano into a hub of ideas and innovation for mobility issues and challenges. The events attracted over 33,000 professionals from 62 countries. Energy and digital transformation were at the heart of the offer. The main focus was on the new sustainable vehicles with various alternative engines - electric, hybrid and hydrogen - and future proposals for autonomous driving. In addition, digital solutions for electric mobility were showcased, such as charging stations and fleet monitoring software. The NME events programme organised by a Technical Scientific Committee of the Politecnico di Milano, focused on the opportunities and critical issues facing the sector. AGENS, ANAV and ASSTRA, the promoting associations, presented studies on the prospects for public transport and tourism, highlighting the need for investment to achieve the objectives of increasing collective mobility and fare management as a fundamental lever. The three-day-exhibition concluded with the Motus-E conference on the electrification of cities, showcasing innovative energy solutions for efficient resource management and carbon reduction. Other key topics included Mobility as a Service (MaaS) and digital ticketing, with discussions between industry associations, public transport operators and market leaders.
The third edition of NME will be held from 13 to 16 May 2026, again to coincide with Transpotec Logitec.
